BRUCE SEWER
GOING THE DISTANCE

From Our Nov - Dec 2007 Issue

My name is Bruce Sewer I was born on St.Thomas, U.S.V.I.  I am a 37-years-old tri-athlete. I have been running for 9 years racing for 4; staying fit and healthy is my passion, improving my physical fitness is my love.  Because I am a big guy, 6’5” 210lbs to be exact, I am not your typical runner; but for some reason my weight doesn’t slow me down.

As a youth growing up in Kirwan Terrace Projects, I always enjoyed watching triathlons on TV and I always wanted to become a tri-athlete.  With hard work and support from: my parents Alvin Sewer and Brenda Mitchell, my coach and mentor Roy Macfarlin, and so many other relatives and friends, my dream has become a reality.

Races I have competed in and won include: River City ten miler in Austin Texas - 2 place finish in the clyesdales division and overall 104 out 2000 runners, Worlds Best 10k San Juan Puerto Rico - 254 overall finisher 13000 runners, BVI half marathon - 6 place finish, St. Thomas half marathon - 6place finish 2001 / 2 place finish 2006, Magens bay 10 k - winner 2005 and 2006, 8 tuff miles - age group winner 2005 30 to 34 men / 2006 35 to 39 age group winner / 14th place overall, Love city triathlon - 10th place overall 2006, St. Croix half iron man - 2005 finisher / 2006 finisher.
