Hanik Milligan left the island of St. Croix at the age of 11 years old and moved with his parents to Florida. There he attended the Coconut Creek High School where his coach encouraged him to apply for a football scholarship to pay for college. Little did he know he would later get drafted by the San Diego Chargers in 2003 and begin a professional career in the NFL.
Hanik Milligan, a 4 year NFL veteran, is now a 2005 Pro Bowl Special Teams Player and a Defensive Back for the Arizona Cardinals. CORE got a chance to speak with the "Birdman" (a nick name he got because of his ability to fly around the field) during the 2006 annual Ballers' Weekend on St. Croix.

CORE: As a college graduate (University of Houston) and a professional football player, what advice would you like to give to the youths of the Virgin Islands?
HM: Believe in god, work hard, listen to your parents and stay away from drugs & alcohol.
CORE: What made you decide to participate in the annual Ballers' Weekend?
HM: I love the VI with all my heart. I participate in events like these so I can give back to the kids.
