Al “Bullet” Potter and Kissinger “Kiss” Mercer are the two young entertainers that make up the hyped hip-hop group known as the DTM Boyz. Their ability to mix comedic lyrics with the realities of living in the BVI has gained them a large following amongst the under 25 population. Apart from opening for artists such as Alaine and Mr. Vegas, performing for the BVI Music Fest plus local hot spots like Club Renaissance; the two spend most of their time in the recording booth where they produce songs like their new hit single “Ragga” which is heating up the radio waves. Their highly anticipated mix tape entitled “Tola On Lock” hosted by none other than the Top Gunner himself DJ Bertrum of 106.9FM is scheduled to be released this summer. With all this the DTM Boyz definitely has ‘Tola on lock but their ultimate goal is to put the BVI on the map.
As independent artists the two share ownership of their own recording studio, “MMM Studios” (MMM stands for Make More Money) located in Purcel Estate a.k.a. Rasville. They are heavily influenced by artists like Emiem, Ludacris, Lil’ Wayne and consider artists like the Rock City Boyz and Pressure legends because they have set the pace by opening doors for other VI artists, they also rate BVI’s own Ritical. When asked about their singing style, the DTM Boyz stated: “We maintain our VI identity ‘caue we ain’t afraid or ashamed to rep where we from, it separates you from the rest. We just make it know that we are from the BVI so when ya see us ya know where we from. Some people say we sound like the Rock City Boyz but the reason behind that is because of the accent.”
