CORE:  What made you decide to pursue music?

I was home thinking to myself one day that when I pass on to the next life, I need to leave something behind for people to remember me. I came up with two options, either make music or make children.  And from what I heard, making children seem to be the more stressful option. Music also gives me a chance to connect with and influence my peers and the rest of the world.

CORE:  Who were your influences?

My musical influences come from a wide range of musicians. The music I grew up listening to was more RnB and Hip Hop so I have been influenced by many artists from those genres. Musicians like Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Luther Vandross, and Whitney Houston to the likes of Biggie, Tupac, Jay-z, 50 Cent etc. But being raised in the Caribbean you get exposed and influenced by the reggae, soca, and calypso musicians too. Artists like Bob Marley, Sizzla, Tanya Stephens, Wayne Wonder all taught me how important it is to make sure that you have a good vibe in your music.  You could say I’ve even been influenced by composer like Mozart and Beethoven as well.

COREDescribe your music style.

My music style is like my life. It’s a melting pot of different cultures, genres, thoughts, and feelings. Basically I aim to target the crossover mainstream audience and give them a taste of VI lifestyle. Also I want to show the world that Caribbean artists have a lot more to offer in terms of content and its not just our accents that make us hot.

CORE:  Which STUDIOS/PRODUCERS are you working with?

One of the main producer that I been working with is Alton Bertie aka ABX. He’s the one responsible for the KLC riddim on which I recorded Tell Me and also for the Down Like That beat to name a couple. Other producers include Kamau Georges, and Regal Red, Dane Davies, Jugu, Jah Lee, Jus Bus (produced Rum Ram), Track Monsters

CORE:  What lessons have you learned throughout your career?

Patience. Everything takes time. You don’t just wake up one morning and find yourself where you want to be in life.  You have to work towards it. Even though you do get lucky at time, opportunity favors those that are prepared.

CORE:  Tell us about some of your recent projects?

Lets see, where do I start. Well I recently shot a video for my single “Tell Me.” It was directed by Nordia Rose who also directed videos such as Beenie Man’s “Hum Hum,” Leftside and Esco’s “Tuck in your belly” among others.

I’m also currently in the studio working on the album trying to get it out by the end of this year. Haven’t gotten a title for it yet but we’ll see what happens.

A friend of mine and myself have gotten together to form a Hip Hop & RnB dynamic duo. The self titled group City Boi and Jase will be putting out some hits real soon cause we already have a lot in the bag. That’s definitely something to watch out for.

I currently have a website under construction. In the meantime and between time you can keep up to date with my latest developments by logging on to my MySpace account at MySpace.com/JaseOnline.

Learn to take criticism. Seek it out if you have to.
