In 2003 Xtaushun jumped onto the Virgin Islands calypso scene with their high-spirited hit “Energy”, which won the Cruzan 2003/2004 Festival Road March and left carnival goers eager for more.  The TKO had the more experience bands stunned over the unexpected blow thrown by this newly form band.   That victory fueled Xtaushun’s determination to prove the legitimacy of their reign and sparked the 2004/2005 hit “Gasoline” garnering the band a second Cruzan Festival Road March and solidifying their place as serious contenders for the coveted title.

Since then Xtaushun has kept the pressure on with “VI Monkey” (2005) and “Jam Turnover” (2006).  Determine to reclaim their glory days; Xtaushun challenged each band to a Road March boxing match “TKO” style for the 2006/2007 Cruzan Festival.  Despite their unsuccessful attempt, the band still received much acclaim outside the Road March realm and radio play from the single “Strange” which comments on life in America ’s paradise amidst violence and corruption. A fusion of calypso with reggae, this collaboration between Xtaushun and the VI’s own reggae sensation Pressure, features intense lyrical content.

When asked about their alleged rivalry with Stroka Band, Pumpa replied “it’s not a competition it’s a mission; we have nothing but love for the local bands, but we are on a higher plane.  We are trying to get international recognition.”
