To push local and international reggae artists. Also, to become an international sound clash icon representing the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.
Outlook on Sound System Industry at Home and Abroad:
The sound system industry here in the VI is becoming non-existent little by little. The reason for this is that local sounds are worried about their image more than pushing the music. Some selectors bad mind others, which kills reggae vibes here in the islands, after all dancehall is not the main form of music. Additionally, local sounds are afraid to clash and build the sound vibes here in the VI. Internationally, clashing is a norm in most areas and is becoming bigger and bigger as old veterans are retiring from the clash arena and young sounds like us have emerged to take over the scene.
What advice would you give to aspiring youth trying to break in the Sound System Industry?
The sound industry is hard at times but once you love reggae music and keep pushing yourself, things will come through for you. This day and age it’s all about perseverance and knowledge of the music that will allow new sounds to come out on top.
